Description
Mastering OpenStack Administration – Hands-On Lab. This course is designed for system administrators and DevOps engineers to gain complete proficiency in managing the OpenStack cloud platform version 2025.1 (Epoxy) through hands-on experiments. The course content is aligned with the needs of the 2025 job market and focuses on professional use of the graphical interface and command line. Participants learn to set up a personal lab using modern tools such as Kolla-Ansible on Ubuntu 24.04. The course approach is based on Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and covers managing projects, users, and access in Keystone, managing workloads in Nova, storage in Cinder, and complex networks in Neuton. The troubleshooting section of the course includes intentional failure scenarios to strengthen problem-solving skills in real-world situations. The course aims to shift the mindset from traditional management to modern cloud management, and teaches skills such as using cloud-init to automatically provision servers and automating infrastructure with Heat. In the end, learners will be able to professionally and sustainably manage a private cloud.
What you will learn
- Complete platform management: Manage an OpenStack Epoxy private cloud using the Horizon and Skyline dashboards as well as the command line (OpenStack CLI).
- Identity and Access Management: Create and manage projects, users, and role-based access control (RBAC) in the Keystone service.
- Processing Operations: Launch, configure, and monitor processing instances in Nova and manage resource quotas.
- Data storage: Allocate and manage storage volumes, backup and restore data in the Cinder service.
- Network design and security: Building isolated networks, configuring routers, assigning Floating IPs, and managing security groups in Neutron.
- Image management: Upload and verify operating system images in the Glance service and build custom images with cloud-init.
- Professional troubleshooting: Diagnose and fix common infrastructure problems using log reviews and health check commands in the CLI environment.
- Infrastructure Automation: Model and automatically deploy compute and network resources using Heat patterns.
