Secure Software Development – Part I. This course teaches the fundamentals of software security with a focus on threat modeling for new application development. The course content covers the fundamentals of software security within the software development lifecycle and examines critical vulnerabilities and common attacks. It then introduces advanced application testing and analysis strategies to uncover unknown vulnerabilities. Practical risk mitigation strategies are presented to reduce the risk of attacks. In the first part, the process begins with secure application modeling, which includes the steps of building a functional model, object model, dynamic model, system model, and threat model. These steps proceed iteratively and build on each other, and the models are updated as new knowledge is acquired.
