Description
SEC511: Cybersecurity Engineering: Advanced Threat Detection and Monitoring. This course prepares security professionals to protect today’s complex and hybrid environments. With a focus on agile practice rather than following passing trends, this course provides a solid foundation in security engineering and advanced threat detection techniques. Using modern tools and concepts such as Zero Trust, artificial intelligence, machine learning (AI/ML), extended detection and response (XDR) platforms, and cloud technologies, participants gain practical skills to analyze, detect, and respond to threats across multiple cloud, network, and endpoint environments. The course includes over 18 hands-on labs, a final challenge, and simulated challenges that provide comprehensive experience in areas such as cloud monitoring, network detection and response (NDR), endpoint detection and response (EDR), SIEM systems, and SASE architectures. Success in this course and earning the GIAC GMON certification demonstrates the expert’s ability to effectively employ these modern defenses to secure an organization against well-equipped adversaries and distributed infrastructure.
What you will learn
- Defense Assessment and Improvement: Participants learn how to assess current defenses and engineer modern, prioritized improvements.
- Use of frameworks: They use frameworks like MITRE ATT&CK and Zero Trust to consciously defend against threats.
- Threat Hunting: Identify threats across networks, endpoints, and the cloud using advanced tools and techniques.
- Increased visibility: Create visibility into hybrid, decentralized infrastructures and encrypted traffic.
- Cloud Security: Uses CNAPP, CSPM, CIEM, and CWPP for strong cloud security.
- Threat Analysis: Analyze and identify threats using NDR, EDR, Suricata, Zeek, Wireshark, and other tools.
- Securing: Secure identity, endpoints, and AI/LLM applications, and improve SOC with SOAR and automation.
