Description
Minimal Firewall uses the built-in Windows firewall to block all unknown connections by default. The software allows the user to create rules for each application to prevent unwanted malware connections, telemetry, and data leaks. Using this program, the user can completely prevent applications from connecting to their servers without prior notice.
Program features and functions
- Lockdown Mode: This is the main part of Minimal Firewall. By enabling this mode, all network connections are blocked by default without any predefined rules in Windows Firewall. No program can connect to the Internet without the user’s explicit permission.
- Real-Time Connection Alerts: When a blocked app tries to connect, the user is notified in real time via a notification and can make decisions on the fly. The user can choose to have these notifications displayed as annoying pop-ups or silently reported within the app.
- Simple Rule Creation: With one click, you can permanently or temporarily allow or block an application from connecting to the Internet.
- Wildcard Rules: This feature helps the user easily manage applications that are constantly updated (such as web browsers). Using this feature, it is possible to create rules that apply to any version of an application in a specific folder.
- UWP & Service Support: This app is not limited to traditional desktop apps and also supports UWP (Modern Windows Store Apps) and background system services.
- Light & Dark Themes: Minimal Firewall has a simple user interface that makes it easier for the user to use it day and night.
- 100% Local and Private: Minimal Firewall does not collect any user information (telemetry). The program does not connect to the Internet and all its rules and logs are stored locally on the user’s device.
