Description

Fritzing is an open-source electronic design automation (EDA) software that aims to make electronics more accessible to a wide range of users, including designers , hobbyists , and artists . The software was developed with inspiration from the Processing programming language and the Arduino microcontroller . Fritzing allows users to document their electronic prototypes, design layouts for printed circuit boards (PCBs) , and is also used as a tool for teaching electronics concepts. Originally started as a research project at the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences in Germany, the project has now moved towards community-based development and is very popular among users of platforms such as Arduino and Raspberry Pi .

Program features and functions

  • Different views for circuit design: Fritzing provides a simple and friendly user interface that helps the user visually view and edit their circuit in three different formats : Breadboard view , Schematic view , and Printed Circuit Board (PCB) view . This variety in display makes it easier to understand and document the circuit.

  • Cross-platform compatibility: The Fritzing program is built using the Qt framework and is available for various platforms including Windows , macOS , and Linux .
  • Community and ancillary services: Fritzing also offers a community website for sharing projects and provides services for users to order professional printed circuit board manufacturing.

  • CPU : x86 or ARM CPUs (for Windows 11 on ARM).
  • Note : Older versions of Windows 10 (un-updated since 2016) are not supported. Windows 7 and XP are also not supported.
